The President of the Sovereign Transitional Council, Lieutenant-General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, today, Saturday, met in his office with the head of the United Nations Integrated Mission to Support the Transition in Sudan (UNITAMS ) Volker Peretz, where the meeting addressed the situation in the country and the challenges facing the transition period.
Volcker said in a press release that his meeting with the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council is part of a series of meetings he has had with Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk and a number of members of the Sovereignty Council, indicating that he will also meet the forces of freedom and change. He added that all these meetings aim to focus on the real and objective issues of the transition process in Sudan.
Peretz said the meeting with the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council focused on the relations between the civilian and military components, as well as the situation in eastern Sudan. He said the meeting highlighted the need to address the eastern issue as a national issue that must be taken into consideration. The Unitams mission chief added that the meeting also focused on the draft roadmap for the outstanding issues regarding the remainder of the transition phase and the need for a comprehensive and comprehensive dialogue between political parties and d ‘an agreement on a common roadmap.
