Spain striker Ferran Torres doubts the Nations League final against France on Sunday, but he will pass a fitness test ahead of the game at San Siro.
“Everyone is ready except Ferran,” Spain coach Luis Enrique told a press conference on Saturday.
Torres scored both goals in Spain’s 2-1 semi-final win over Italy on Wednesday, but suffered an injury in the second half after sustaining a bruise to his right foot.
Enrique added: We will not pressure him. If he’s ready, he’ll play, and if not, he won’t play, and one of the colleagues will participate in his place, and we trust them and we will adapt.
Enrique added that the Manchester City forward will take part in the warm-up before making the final decision on the starting lineup, and Torres seems optimistic about his chances of playing, as Torres said: My feet are in good shape, I’ll try tomorrow, and we’ll see if I can play or not.
Torres, 21, was a winger but now plays as a striker after Spain lost attacking duo Alvaro Morata and Gerard Moreno to injury before the start of the Nations League finals.
“I’m a winger and it’s the best position to play, but it’s also good to be able to play as a forward,” Torres said.
