The Italian team had lost in the semifinals to their Spanish counterpart, 1-2, while the Belgian team lost their lead with two unanswered goals to the France team, losing 2-3 in the same round.
This victory came to confirm the superiority of the Italian team over its Belgian counterpart during the recent confrontations between them, while the Italian team won its last two matches at the 2016 and 2020 European Championships.
Nicola Parilla advanced for the Italian side in the 46th minute, before his colleague Domenico Berardi added the second goal from the penalty spot in the 65th minute. In the 86th minute Charles de Kitteler scored the only goal for Belgium.
